The next chapter of Foreword South is coming soon...

Firstly, we want to say THANK YOU for your ongoing support and love during 2018. As many of you have noticed, Foreword South wasn’t as active these last few months. Our staff took time this past year to focus on other endeavors, both professional and personal. When the universe tells you to take a break from a passion project, you listen. We always knew we’d find our way back to the stories that called us here in the first place.

The past eight months have met us with phenomenal experiences and challenges as we put our attention into helping and healing our communities. Dillon transitioned into a new position with ACLU Alabama, Ashley started a graduate program in Social Work, and Megan focused her energy on the 2018 midterm elections cycle as a staffer, mobilizing rural communities to get out the vote. And that was just our day jobs!

Each of these experiences led us to the same conclusion over and over: our Southern communities are sacred, complicated, and their stories must be told. In a year marked by tireless organizing in red states (thank you, Stacey Abrams!) and hard lessons learned, it became more evident to us that the work Foreword South does is imperative...and we can’t wait to get back to it.

our Southern communities are sacred, complicated, and their stories must be told.

Foreword South’s next chapter will come with some changes in content and platform, but our mission will stay the same. We tell untold stories to offer a perspective of the South that challenges the dominant narrative about who we are. We’re beyond excited to return to creating, connecting, and learning with you.

With endless love and solidarity,

Ashley, Dillon, and Megan
